"I ride the bus because..."
From November to December 2011, we asked our riders why they choose to ride the bus. Below are some of the comments we received:
"To get me places like the doctors and work."
"I don't have a car or a license. It's nice and cheap when I need to do some shopping or go to the doctors."
"The bus operators are wonderful"
"This service is wonderful and the drivers and polite and professional. Thank you for this marvelous transit."
"It is a convenient and economical way for me to get back and forth from work and other errands. I ride daily and find drivers to be polite and courteous."
"I don't have a license and a car costs to much. I've been riding since August 2010."
"I don't have a car, but it saves gas and wear and tear on a car if I had one. It's also convenient. I'd like to see expanded routes and hours."
"It provides me transportation to my job, because I don't drive. Drivers are always friendly and a joy to ride with. Please keep this service going! Thank you!"
"It's easier for me to get to appointment pick up, and drop off at the house is better. Also, when my family needs anything from the store, it's better than asking for a ride."
"Dependable and on time. Drivers are nice, friendly and courteous."
"I don't have a car to take me to the store and my appointments that are in Montour Falls and Watkins Glen. This bus helps me out a lot. It would be great if we could transfer to an elmira transit route."
"It's important for residents to have transportation for doctors, appointments, jobs and grocery shopping."
"Better than walking!"
"My car had died and I couldn't get another one. The bus is conveniently close to my residence and this way I can get to Watkins Glen where most of my appointments are. I can get groceries if there is no one to take me. I haven't tried Dial-A-Ride yet, but I'm sure I will."
"Bus shelters would be a great help especially when it is cold and rainy and windy and snowy."
"I have a car, but I ride the bus because I do not want to lose this service in the event that I can no longer drive. I like the ride."
"As a motorized wheelchair user, the bus is the only safe, very affordable and warm way that I can get to Watkins Glen. This is a great health saver for me and anyone sensitive to cold weather. Very helpful and friendly drivers."
"When my car is in the shop, the bus is a convenient way for me to get to Watkins Glen and back. The vehicles, bike racks, fares and drivers are great!"
"If it wasn't for the bus, I couldn't get around."
