E-Newsletter on Transportation Choices for Schuyler County Residents Now Available

January 16, 2012

tcA new “Transportation Choices” newsletter for Schuyler County residents, published by The Arc of Schuyler, is now available. The newsletter is intended to help educate the general public about what mobility management means and how the County’s Mobility Manager can assist area residents. Amber Simmons, Mobility Manager for Schuyler County, who is employed by The Arc of Schuyler, is heading up this effort.

A Schuyler County Coordinated Human Services Transportation Committee was formed after a County wide transportation needs study was completed in 2007. The committee meets regularly to discuss areas for possible collaboration in order to maximize the use of transportation resources and address local transportation and mobility management needs.

The committee represents human service agencies, governmental departments that provide human services, Schuyler County Transit- the public transit provider, and County officials.  The group helped to identify that an array of transportation options are available for Schuyler County residents, which includes but is not limited to the new public transit system, but everyone may not know how to access them.

The newsletter is intended to help educate the public about these options and how the Mobility Manager can assist. It will provide regular updates on current transportation services and new developments as they evolve.

Readers are encouraged to pass the e-newsletter along to those who may be interested in learning more about transportation options in Schuyler County. Individuals should be encouraged to sign up to receive future editions of Transportation Choices.
